» ozzy was born to a teenage mother in austin in july 1990. his father wasn't supportive of her choice to have the baby but his grandparents were and they wanted to make sure that his mother still got to live the life she wanted.
» this meant that when she wanted to go to college, they supported the decision. what happened after was a very natural and progressive shift from her doing ozzy's primary care taking to his grandparents doing it.
» as ozzy grew up, he thought it was natural and normal to be raised by grandparents with minimal contributions from an actual parent. his mother didn't move back in with them when she graduated but she did still visit and throughout his childhood and beyond, she did maintain a presence in his life, if not necessarily a maternal one.
» from his very first day at school, he loved it and very rarely missed a day even when he was sick. despite not being the bravest when it came to public speaking and embarrassing easily when he knew strangers were looking, he decided early on that he wanted to become a teacher.
» a few debating club disasters made him realize that becoming a kindergarten teacher was probably a better avenue for him than teaching highschoolers.
» teaching as a career was solidified for him by his first job: retail. working in his grandparents' homemade popcorn store wasn't comparable to most retail jobs, granted, but he hated it anyway and decided he'd never return to it after college.
